Cooldowns that melt away on their own
The Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac is a timeless classic for any build that lives on short cooldowns: every time a resource-spending attack hits an enemy, the remaining cooldown of one of your skills shrinks. The faster and more often you spend resources, the more frequently your powerful cooldown skills become available again.
That makes the ring valuable across all classes, especially where a strong defensive or offensive skill would ideally stay active permanently. Combined with high attack speed, you turn seconds-long waits into a near-permanent uptime. Tip: Use a fast, resource-spending attack with many individual hits to trigger the cooldown reduction as often as possible, keeping your most important cooldown skill up with almost no interruption.
Four fixed stats that feed the power
The power has no roll range - the reduction is always 1 second per hit. The fixed stats matter all the more, since each one feeds the same mechanism:
- Attack Speed (5.0 to 7.0%) means more hits per second and therefore more triggers.
- Resource costs drop by 5.0 to 8.0%, so you can keep spending for longer.
- Cooldowns of all skills shrink by 5.0 to 8.0% - the baseline the power then chips away at second by second.
- Critical Hit Chance (4.5 to 6%) rounds out the package on the damage side.
On top of that, the ring ignores durability loss. A Primal Ancient copy brings each of these stats to its maximum.
What triggers the power and what does not
Only attacks that spend resources count, and only when they hit. Skills that generate resources do not count, and each hit shortens the cooldown of a single skill, not all of them at once. For additional stats, look for a socket plus resistances or a Healing Bonus.
Cube slot and frequent partners
The power fits the jewelry slot of Kanai's Cube, but there you lose the fixed stats, which only work on your finger. Frequent partners are Squirt's Necklace, Ring of Royal Grandeur, Captain Crimson's Silk Girdle, In-geom, Goldwrap and the Stone of Jordan. The flavor text tells of many adventurers who met their doom hunting for it in the catacombs beneath the Zakarum cathedral in Tristram.
