Ashnagarr's Blood Bracer significantly increases the strength of your shields, an effect exclusive to the Wizard. Skills and items that create an absorbing shield benefit directly: the shield soaks up noticeably more damage before breaking, greatly raising your effective survivability in tanky or shield-based builds.

That makes the bracers a natural pick for builds centered on shield mechanics, for example through 'Energy Armor' or other absorption sources. As bracers, the power can't be cubed and must be worn. Combine them with additional shield sources and life or armor stats so the strengthened shield reaches its full protective potential.
