A Cyclone of Stacks
This fist weapon pushes 'Sweeping Wind' for the Monk in two ways: the maximum number of stacks rises significantly, and the skill's damage is massively increased. More stacks mean more sustained area damage around you – the foundation of classic Sweeping Wind builds that plow through enemy packs in a constant vortex.
The strength lies in building up and maintaining the stacks: the longer you stay in the thick of the fight and land hits, the higher your damage piles up. Tip: Keep moving right in the middle of the enemies to max out your stacks quickly and keep them consistently at the top – every time your vortex breaks off, you lose valuable built-up damage.
How the vortex grows
Without this weapon, the vortex caps at 3 stacks; Vengeful Wind adds 10 more on top. New stacks come from a chance on Critical Hits, which is why Critical Hit Chance matters so much for the build-up. The vortex lasts 6 seconds and refreshes with every melee hit, so you need to keep striking in between. The damage bonus rolls between 600 and 800%; a copy at 674% sits in the lower middle, and a Primal Ancient reaches the full 800%.
The rune sets the tone
Because the weapon raises the stack count so much, Blade Storm gains weight: it lifts the damage per stack from 105 to 145% weapon damage. Fire Storm widens the vortex to 14 yards and turns it into Fire. Inner Storm provides 8 Spirit per second from 3 stacks up, Cyclone spawns lightning tornadoes on Critical Hits, and Master of Wind freezes enemies that stay in the vortex for 3 consecutive seconds.
Stats and partners
Every copy carries +626–750 Dexterity and bonus damage of +981–1,199 to 1,175–1,490. Look for a socket, Area Damage, Damage %, Attack Speed, Cooldown Reduction, Resource Cost Reduction or Maximum Spirit. The fist weapon is often paired with Captain Crimson's Silk Girdle and Waders, Ring of Royal Grandeur, Stone of Jordan, Sunwuko's Shines and Sunwuko's Soul.
