The Elder Crusader Drakon believed in precision, and trained his apprentice to strike fewer targets, but with more power. "Would you rather face ten opponents who are slightly injured? Or seven healthy opponents, who are distracted by the three corpses at your feet?"

Drakon's Lesson

These bracers reward precision with Shield Bash: hit three or fewer enemies and the bash's damage spikes hard while part of its Wrath cost is refunded. Rather than spreading wide, you want to focus your blows on just a few targets.

For the Crusader this builds into a concentrated single-target setup, ideal against elites, bosses and individual tough foes. The Wrath refund keeps your resource flowing so you can bash more often. Practical tip: position yourself so your Shield Bash hits little more than the boss and a stray minion or two – separate the main target from the pack and the bonus stays active, concentrating your damage exactly where it counts.

Numbers and condition

The damage bonus rolls between 300 and 400%, while the 25% Wrath refund is fixed. Unruned, Shield Bash costs 30 Wrath, charges at the target and strikes it along with all nearby enemies, which is exactly why you have to watch the three-target limit. The skill requires a shield, and 300% of that shield's block chance is added as Holy damage. The power only works for the Crusader.

Runes that respect the limit

Some runes increase the number of targets hit and so work against the condition: Shattered Shield hits additional enemies with fragments, and Shield Cross makes extra shields erupt in a cross. Runes that strengthen the single bash fit better: Pound raises the damage to 1320% weapon damage plus 500% of block chance but cuts the range to 8 yards. Crumble lifts weapon damage to 875%, and One on One stuns the target for 1.5 seconds.

Stats

The bracers carry a fixed 4.5–6% Critical Hit Chance and roll 416–500 Strength, Dexterity or Intelligence, where the Crusader wants Strength.

Drakon's question

In the flavor text, the Elder Crusader Drakon puts a question to his apprentice: would you rather face ten slightly injured opponents, or seven who are distracted by the three corpses at your feet? Three targets, full force: exactly the logic of the power.
