How to read the table
The bonuses are grouped into four categories: Core, Offense, Defense and Utility. Each row shows what a single point gives you and how many points the bonus can take at most; a bonus without a maximum is unlimited. The table has 28 rows because of the Core category: the main stat and the maximum resource depend on your class, so they appear several times. For any one hero, it comes down to four bonuses per category.
Core: the only uncapped bonuses
Only two bonuses have no cap, and both are in Core: your main stat and Vitality, each at +5 per point. Your class decides which main stat that is: Strength for Barbarian and Crusader, Dexterity for Demon Hunter and Monk, Intelligence for Witch Doctor, Necromancer and Wizard. Movement Speed (+0.5% per point) and the maximum resource stop at 50 points. The resource rows are worth a closer look, since every class has its own: Arcane Power (Wizard), Wrath (Crusader) and Hatred (Demon Hunter) get +0.5 per point, Fury (Barbarian), Essence (Necromancer) and Spirit (Monk) +1, and Mana (Witch Doctor) +4. Fully invested, that means +25, +50 or +200.
Offense, Defense and Utility
Every bonus in these three categories is capped at 50 points. Maxed out, Offense gives +10% Attack Speed, +10% Cooldown Reduction, +5% Critical Hit Chance and +50% Critical Hit Damage. Defense adds up to +25% Life, +25% Armor and +250 Resist All, plus Life Regeneration at 214.6 per second per point. Utility offers +50% Area Damage, +10% Resource Cost Reduction, Life per Hit at 160.9 per point and a larger Gold Pickup Radius (+0.1 per point, so +5 in total).
What the numbers tell you
Each class has 14 capped bonuses at 50 points each, 700 points in total. In Core, the two capped bonuses take 100 points between them; every further Core point can only go into your main stat or Vitality. When comparing rows, mind the units: Life Regeneration and Life per Hit are flat numbers, while most other bonuses are percentages. The step size varies a lot as well: one point in Critical Hit Chance gives +0.1%, while one point in Critical Hit Damage or Area Damage gives +1% each.
