"I studied the relationship between the Umbaru and the dead. And it is safe to say that their grasp matches their reach." -High Scholar Wilken
Wilken's Reach
This mojo completely removes the cooldown of Grasp of the Dead and boosts its damage on top. Instead of using the skill only occasionally, you keep it on the battlefield permanently and blanket packs of enemies with sustained ground damage. The added critical hit chance underlines its offensive character.
It is meant solely for the Witch Doctor who wants to make Grasp of the Dead a central area skill. You lay the skill down continuously while foes stand in the infested zone. Practical tip: with no cooldown to slow you, solid Mana sustain matters so you can truly keep the effect up permanently. Combine the mojo with gear that further increases Grasp of the Dead damage to squeeze maximum pressure out of the constant carpet.
What Happens to the Runes Without a Cooldown
Grasp of the Dead normally has an 8 second cooldown and costs 150 Mana. The mojo removes the cooldown, which shifts the runes:
- Desperate Grasp only lowers the cooldown to 4 seconds, so it becomes redundant with the mojo.
- Unbreakable Grasp removes the Mana cost and raises the Slow to 80%; together with the mojo, both the waiting time and the cost disappear, and the damage turns into Cold.
- Groping Eels raises the damage from 760% to 1360% weapon damage over 8 seconds.
- Rain of Corpses also drops corpses dealing 420% weapon damage over 3 seconds.
- Death Is Life has a 70% chance to summon a Zombie Dog when enemies die in the area.
The Mojo's Fixed Stats
All four properties are fixed: (262–328)–(263–394) damage, Intelligence at 626–750, 8–10% critical hit chance and 45–60% increased Grasp of the Dead damage. A Primal Ancient mojo brings the full 60%. Followers can carry the mojo too.
A Scholar's Wordplay
The flavor text quotes High Scholar Wilken, who studied the relationship between the Umbaru and the dead and concluded that their grasp matches their reach, a line that plays on both the skill and the item's name.
