Pool of the item type from the game files, version 2.8.0. Skill damage bonuses only carry weight for their class. All properties of this slot

A terrifying being spawned from the primordial depths. To gaze upon it is enough to drive one mad. Currently disguised as a frog.

Reach From the Abyss

This mojo massively widens your pickup radius, pulling gold and health globes toward you from a long distance. For the Witch Doctor, that makes it primarily a comfort and survival piece that shines in greed-leaning builds already invested in gold gain, or in setups that lean on globes for resource and life recovery. Because the remaining rolls are solid offensive stats (Intelligence, crit chance, max Mana), it stays combat-relevant despite being a utility item.

In practice you bring Thing of the Deep when your build benefits from gold-find effects or treats health globes as a healing source but you would rather not chase each one across the screen. Tip: pair it with effects that trigger on globe pickup, so the expanded radius pays off twice.

A Fixed Radius Instead of a Range

The power has no roll range: every Thing of the Deep increases your pickup radius by exactly 20 yards. Differences between two copies therefore come only from the other properties. Four of them are fixed: (15–19)–(16–23) damage, Intelligence at 626–750, 8–10% critical hit chance and 120–150 Maximum Mana. A Primal Ancient mojo has all four at the top of their ranges.

What to Look for on the Mojo

Since the power adds no damage, the extra properties matter all the more. Look for a damage bonus to your main skill, such as Fetish Army, and for cooldown reduction. If a roll turns out useless, the Mystic can enchant it anew. As an off-hand item, the mojo takes the slot another mojo with a damage power would otherwise fill, and that is the real price of the convenience.

It is often combined with Carnevil, Pauldrons of the Skeleton King, Squirt's Necklace, Aquila Cuirass, Goldwrap and St. Archew's Gage.

A Frog with a Past

The flavor text describes a terrifying being spawned from the primordial depths, one you cannot gaze upon without going mad, though it is currently disguised as a frog.
