The severed head of a homunculus is the source of much power for a knowledgeable witch doctor.

Automatic Zombie Dogs

The Homunculus summons a Zombie Dog to your side entirely on its own at regular intervals, without you spending resources or casting the skill manually. On top of that the mojo boosts the damage of Sacrifice, revealing the natural synergy: a steady stream of dogs that you discharge in a massive explosion when needed. For Witch Doctors with a pet and Sacrifice focus, the mojo is therefore tailor-made.

My tip: always keep a well-stocked pack ready, because the more dogs you have when casting Sacrifice, the more devastating the blast. Since the Homunculus replenishes the dogs in the background, you can sacrifice them more aggressively and don't have to laboriously summon each one yourself. That way you tie steady companions and explosive damage spikes into a smooth cycle.

The 2-Second Beat

A new Zombie Dog arrives every 2 seconds - that value is fixed and never differs between copies. It creates a simple trade-off when sacrificing: cast Sacrifice in quick succession and fewer dogs are ready each time; wait longer and the mojo has more time to refill until your pack is complete again. The power itself does not set how large the pack can grow.

Five Fixed Stats

The mojo has only fixed affixes, and all five roll within a range:

  • +(5–7)–(6–8) Damage
  • 8–10% Critical Hit Chance
  • 50–60% increased Sacrifice damage
  • +626–750 Intelligence
  • +120–150 Maximum Mana

Since the power itself has no roll, a Homunculus is judged by these values. The Sacrifice bonus and Critical Hit Chance matter most; a Primal Ancient copy maxes everything, such as 60% on Sacrifice and 10.0% Critical Hit Chance.
