Pool of the item type from the game files, version 2.8.0. Skill damage bonuses only carry weight for their class. All properties of this slot
This finger was severed from the hand of an Umbaru priest who crossed over to Mbwiru Eikura in search of knowledge and came back... changed. Before the unclean phantasm was finally slain, he evinced great power over the dead, and this metal-plated digit still possesses some of that power.
The Tall Man's Finger
This ring is the counterpart to its smaller sibling: instead of a pack, Zombie Dogs now summons a single giant dog for the Witch Doctor that deals more damage and has more health than all the ordinary dogs combined. A whole pack becomes one sturdy heavyweight companion.
The giant dog concentrates your entire summoning power into one target that is harder to kill and pairs ideally with effects that empower or sacrifice individual companions. The ring is a cornerstone of many pet and summoner builds. My tip: combine it with gear that raises the health or damage of your zombie dogs, because those bonuses now pool into your single giant dog and make it especially formidable.
What Changes in Combat
The power text is clear: the gargantuan dog outdoes the whole pack in both damage and health. You trade numbers for quality. That leads to a different playstyle than with several dogs: instead of many small minions spreading across different enemies, your damage focuses on whatever the giant is attacking. Enemy area attacks now hit one minion instead of several.
The power has no range - every Tall Man's Finger creates the same giant dog.
Stats on the Ring
The ring has no fixed affixes; it only rolls +416–500 Dexterity, Intelligence or Strength. For a Witch Doctor, Intelligence counts, and the Mystic can re-enchant an unfitting attribute. A Primal Ancient copy carries 500 Intelligence.
The Umbaru Priest's Finger
The flavor text explains where the power comes from: the metal-plated finger belonged to an Umbaru priest who crossed over to Mbwiru Eikura in search of knowledge and came back changed. Before the unclean phantasm was slain, it showed great power over the dead - and some of it still lives in the finger.
