Imbued with the magic of the Torajan jungles. But from where does it get its ammunition?
Acid blobs on every attack
Pus Spitter gives your attacks a chance to additionally hurl an acid blob that deals extra damage independent of your regular hit. Since the crossbow comes with poison damage built in, it suits Demon Hunter builds that already lean on poison or area damage and benefit from a steady stream of bonus projectiles.
Because the effect is tied to your attacks, it scales well with high attack speed: the more often you swing, the more blobs fly out. Tip: Use this crossbow with a fast, cheap generator so you roll the throw chance as often as possible, stacking noticeable extra damage against packs.
What Lies Behind the 45%
The example in the power text shows 45%, but the possible range is 25–50%. The strongest copy therefore throws blobs twice as often as the weakest. When comparing two Pus Spitters, check this value before anything else - the main stat can be fixed at the Mystic if needed, the power's trigger chance cannot. A Primal Ancient sits at the full 50%.
The crossbow fires at 1.10 attacks per second for 779-945 damage. Every bit of extra attack speed gives you more rolls for an acid blob.
Dexterity Over Intelligence
The fixed roll is +(981–1,199)–(1,175–1,490) Poison Damage. For the main stat, chance decides between +626–750 Dexterity and Intelligence. Since the text places the crossbow with the Demon Hunter, a Dexterity copy is the right one; with Intelligence, re-enchanting exactly that property is worth it. The power itself carries no class restriction.
Ammunition From the Jungle
The flavor text credits the crossbow with the magic of the Torajan jungles and asks an unappetizing question: where does it get its ammunition? The name Pus Spitter offers a fairly clear answer.
