An Automatic Emergency Skin

Dark Mage's Shade gives the Wizard a safety net: drop below a critical health threshold and you automatically cast Diamond Skin - on a recurring basis, once the internal cooldown has passed. The absorbing shield kicks in exactly when things get dangerous, with no input required from you.

The hat is class-neutral in your inventory, but its effect is clearly made for the Wizard. It suits glass-cannon damage builds especially well, the kind that deal enormous damage yet take little in return. Do not rely on the automation blindly, though: keep your own Diamond Skin or other defensive skills ready, since the automatic trigger only fires once per cooldown and only bridges the most dangerous moments.
