Hydra
Typhon's Veil makes the Hydra the Wizard's load-bearing pillar. The 6-piece bonus greatly increases Hydra damage per living Hydra head, while the 4-piece bonus reduces incoming damage for each head alive.
How to play: Recast the Hydra whenever you reposition it and stack Arcane Power sustain. A pleasantly stationary, very strong push build.
Heads as a shared currency
Everything in this set runs on the number of living Hydra heads. The 2-piece bonus doubles the duration of your Hydras and adds two heads to multi-headed Hydras. At four pieces, every living head reduces your damage taken by 8%; at six pieces, each one adds 4000% Hydra damage. A single head therefore counts twice – for your toughness and for your damage.
Why every hit matters
The catch sits in the 4-piece bonus: each time you take damage, a Hydra head dies – no more than one every 2 seconds. If you stand under constant fire, you lose head after head at 2-second intervals, and each lost head lowers protection and damage together. That explains the advice to recast the Hydra: a fresh one starts again with all its heads.
Two ground rules follow. First, position yourself so that as few attacks as possible reach you, because every avoided hit saves a head. Second, recast the Hydra as soon as several heads are gone instead of waiting for its doubled duration to run out.
Pieces and cube powers
The set consists of six armor pieces, from Typhon's Frons (helm) to Typhon's Tarsus (boots); no weapon or source is part of it. In Kanai's Cube it is often combined with Fragment of Destiny, Tasker and Theo, the Ring of Royal Grandeur and Aether Walker. With the ring, five of the six pieces are enough for the Hydra bonus.
