Pool of the item type from the game files, version 2.8.0. Skill damage bonuses only carry weight for their class. All properties of this slot
Used by the Butcher demon to snare and drag victims closer that he may feed on their flesh.
Pulling enemies to you
The Butcher's Sickle has a chance, on your attacks, to pull enemies toward you. For melee fighters that is worth its weight in gold, because instead of chasing scattered foes you bundle them right in front of you and can focus your area damage on a dense cluster.
The axe suits any class strong in melee that benefits from enemy clusters, such as the Barbarian, Crusader or Monk. My tip: play the sickle in content with many small, scattered enemies, because there the pull noticeably speeds up your clearing. Since the effect is only a chance per attack, frequent, fast swings pay off to gather foes reliably. In pure single-target encounters, by contrast, the bonus barely matters and reveals its charm only in the masses.
The Chance in Numbers
The chance to drag enemies to you when attacking rolls in the 20–25% range, and a Primal Ancient copy has the full 25%. The power speaks of enemies in the plural and ties the effect to your attacks, not to hits or kills. The text does not say how far enemies are dragged. Since the power has no class restriction, any class that can wield an axe can use it.
A One-Handed Axe with a Free Hand
The Butcher's Sickle deals 249-461 damage at 1.30 attacks per second and fits in either the main hand or the off-hand. It rolls a random elemental damage bonus of (981–1,199)–(1,175–1,490) in one of seven elements; pick the element of your main skill. If it rolls wrong, the Mystic can enchant exactly that property anew. Followers can wield the sickle too.
The Butcher's Tool
The flavor text explains the name bluntly: the Butcher demon used this sickle to snare victims and drag them closer so he could feed on their flesh. The power borrows exactly that motion, except that you then fight the enemies you pull in.
