Shield of Fury
This Crusader shield rewards sustained pressure on a target: each time an enemy takes damage from your Heaven's Fury, the future damage it suffers from that skill increases, and the effect stacks multiple times. So the longer you stay on a pack or boss, the more devastating your Heaven's Fury becomes against those specific targets.
The Shield of Fury is tailored to Crusader Heaven's Fury builds that funnel their damage into concentrated enemies. My tip: apply Heaven's Fury early and keep it on the same cluster without interruption to ramp the stacks quickly, because the shield shines most against long-lived targets like elite packs or bosses, where you can truly exploit the full built-up multiplier.
Ten stacks per enemy
Each stack raises Heaven's Fury damage against that one target by a value between 25–30%, up to 10 stacks. Because the roll repeats with every stack, a copy at the top of the range makes a noticeable difference against fully stacked enemies. The stacks belong to the individual enemy - switch to a fresh target and the build-up starts over.
Which Heaven's Fury rune carries the ramp
In its base form, Heaven's Fury has a 20-second cooldown and deals 1710% weapon damage as Holy over 6 seconds.
- Fires of Heaven removes the cooldown, costs 40 Wrath instead and sends a beam across the battlefield for 960% weapon damage as Holy - with no waiting, you can hit the same targets again and again.
- Split Fury: 3 smaller beams dealing 1980% each over 6 seconds.
- Ascendancy: a 12-yard ray dealing 2766% over 6 seconds.
- Blessed Ground and Thou Shalt Not Pass work through the ground the ray touches.
Properties and pairings
The shield has no fixed properties; the random roll is a primary attribute at 626–750 - Crusaders take Strength. It is frequently combined with the Crown, Spaulders, Brigandine and Gauntlets of Valor, The Traveler's Pledge and Captain Crimson's Silk Girdle. The flavor text warns that those who deny the Light will be forced to reckon with its power.
