"One final blow severed the great demon's head, sending it rolling before Dregan's feet. He contemplated the foul thing for a moment, then took it with him to adorn his shield." —The Chronicles of Crusader Dregan
Two-handed damage despite the shield
The Hellskull solves a classic Crusader dilemma: a shield offers great defense, but a two-handed weapon hits far harder. This shield rewards you with extra damage as long as you wield a two-hander. So you no longer have to choose between force and protection, because the Hellskull combines both in a single gear slot.
That makes it tailor-made for Crusader builds that favor heavy two-handed weapons, such as massive maces or great swords, while still wanting a shield's sturdiness. My tip: make sure your build is genuinely built around a two-handed weapon, otherwise its central benefit goes unused. Combined correctly, you get the best of both worlds: hard-hitting swings and a reliable block in the same hand.
One fixed number for all your damage
The power grants a fixed 10% increased damage and has no roll range - every copy delivers the same bonus. It is not tied to any skill: as long as the condition is met, the bonus applies to everything you use. The condition requires you to wield a two-handed weapon while carrying the shield; without a two-hander, Hellskull is a shield without a working power.
What to check on the shield
Since the power is identical on every copy, only the quality of the stats decides which Hellskull is better. The Crusader Shield's main stat is Strength, Dexterity or Intelligence at 626 to 750 points; for a Crusader, only Strength counts. If your copy has another main stat, the Mystic can re-enchant exactly that one stat - after that, no other stat on the shield can be changed. A Primal Ancient pushes the main stat to its maximum but leaves the power value unchanged.
Dregan's trophy
The name comes from the flavor text, an excerpt from The Chronicles of Crusader Dregan: one final blow severed a great demon's head, sending it rolling before Dregan's feet. He contemplated the foul thing for a moment - then took it with him to adorn his shield.
