This Crusader shield interlocks defense and defensive utility: Iron Skin additionally raises your block chance considerably, further upgrading your already strong damage avoidance. For a shield-heavy Crusader who uses blocking as a central survival mechanism, this creates a window of near-untouchable steadfastness while Iron Skin is active.

That makes the shield especially suited to tank- and support-oriented builds or to defensive phases in tough Greater Rifts. Practical tip: synchronize Iron Skin with a fight's most dangerous moments, such as elite affixes or boss combos, so you have maximum block chance exactly when incoming damage peaks. Outside those windows the bonus naturally goes unused.
