Exploding Palm From Seven-Sided Strike

This spirit stone applies Exploding Palm to every enemy hit by Seven-Sided Strike. You link your hard-hitting burst skill to a follow-up detonation that tears the struck targets apart even further – one hit sets up a secondary explosion.

For the Monk the Madstone is a natural partner to a Seven-Sided Strike build, amplifying its already high single-target and group damage. Tip: Try to mark as many enemies at once as possible with Seven-Sided Strike so the explosions pile up – in dense crowds the chain effect of Exploding Palm can shred whole packs long after your strikes themselves have faded.

The Spirit You Save

Cast by hand, Exploding Palm costs 40 Spirit, makes the target bleed for 1200% weapon damage over 9 seconds and blows it up for 2770% weapon damage on death. Through the Madstone, that effect lands on every enemy Seven-Sided Strike catches without a cast of its own - and since the strike dashes between nearby enemies, it often catches several targets at once.

Which Rune for Seven-Sided Strike

Seven-Sided Strike costs 50 Spirit and has a 30-second cooldown that only starts after the last of its 7 strikes. The rune decides how often you can spread Exploding Palm:

  • Sustained Attack lowers the cooldown to 14 seconds.
  • Pandemonium makes the skill free and freezes struck enemies for 7 seconds.
  • Sudden Assault teleports you to the target and raises the damage to 8285% weapon damage as Lightning.
  • Fulminating Onslaught makes every strike explode in a 7-yard radius.

Stats and Background

The spirit stone has no fixed affixes and no range on its power. It rolls +626–750 of a main stat - Dexterity for a Monk - and pairs well with Critical Hit Chance, Exploding Palm damage and a Socket. It is often worn with Uliana's Strength, Uliana's Heart, Uliana's Fury, Squirt's Necklace, Goldwrap and Gungdo Gear. According to the flavor text, the stone's power drove the monk Vhalit mad - hence the name.
