Erlang Shen overcame much to slay the flood dragon and awaken his third eye.
Erlang Shen
This spirit stone is about staying on your feet: it noticeably shortens the duration of control-impairing effects, so stuns, freezes and the like tear you out of the fight for far less time. Especially at high difficulties, where a long loss of control quickly turns lethal, that's worth its weight in gold.
As headgear for the Monk, the stone pairs this valuable defense with a randomly rolled primary stat, slotting easily into nearly any build. Practical tip: use the spirit stone above all where enemy control effects give you trouble – against foes that frequently stun or freeze, for instance. The shorter effects buy you the split seconds you need to break free instead of being stuck helpless in the danger zone.
A Wide Roll Range
The reduction to control impairing effects rolls in the 20–40% range, and that span is wide: a copy at the top end is twice as effective as one at the bottom. A Primal Ancient stone always brings the full 40%. Since this property is the main reason to wear Erlang Shen, the exact roll matters more here than with its other values.
No Legendary Power
Erlang Shen carries no legendary power, only fixed and random properties. There is nothing to extract into Kanai's Cube, so the stone only works when worn on your head and takes up your head slot to do so. A random main stat at 626–750 joins it; as a Monk you want Dexterity. If the crowd control reduction sits at the bottom of its range, you can reforge the stone in Kanai's Cube, although that rerolls every value. The Mystic, by contrast, improves one single property on purpose.
The Hero with the Third Eye
The flavor text briefly tells of Erlang Shen, who overcame much to slay the flood dragon and awaken his third eye.
