Pool of the item type from the game files, version 2.8.0. Skill damage bonuses only carry weight for their class. All properties of this slot
Originally pulled from a frozen corpse on the slopes of Mount Arreat, the eye seethes with the magic of a dozen sorcerers.
Eye of Etlich
This amulet blends offense and defense elegantly. It boosts the damage of one chosen elemental type - be it cold, fire, lightning, poison, arcane, holy or physical - while simultaneously cutting the damage you take from ranged attacks. You hit harder and shrug off archers and ranged casters more easily.
Because the damage bonus follows your element, the amulet suits almost any build that commits to a single damage type. Practical tip: match the amulet to the element your main skill uses so the percentage bonus applies in full. The ranged damage reduction also makes it a solid pick for melee builds that keep getting harassed by enemies firing from afar.
Double protection against ranged attackers
The Eye reduces damage from ranged attacks twice: as its special property at 25.5–30.1% and on top of that as a fixed property at 6–7%. Both ranges are narrow – a weak Eye and a strong one differ by only a few percentage points. A primal ancient amulet carries the maximum values automatically.
The Eye has no legendary power in the strict sense; its profile comes entirely from these properties.
The matching element
On top of that comes a fixed 15–20% bonus to one damage type – Cold, Fire, Lightning, Poison, Arcane, Holy or Physical skills; which one depends on the drop.
For most builds only the matching element matters. If you land an amulet with the wrong element, the Mystic can re-enchant that property. Your follower can wear the amulet too.
The eye from the ice
According to the flavor text, the eye was originally pulled from a frozen corpse on the slopes of Mount Arreat. It has seethed with the magic of a dozen sorcerers ever since.
