Effect
The Guardian's Path
The Guardian's Path is a flexible passive whose effect depends on your weaponry. Wielding two weapons grants you a decent chance to dodge attacks entirely, raising your survivability without needing to stack defensive stats. Reach for a two-handed weapon instead, and your spirit generation increases so you can deploy spenders more often.
This lets the skill adapt elegantly to different playstyles. In dual-wield builds you use it as a cheap source of dodge that becomes especially noticeable alongside other dodge effects. In two-hand-oriented setups the benefit shifts entirely toward resource economy and keeps spirit-hungry rotations running. Whether it earns a slot therefore depends heavily on your weapon choice and on whether dodge or spirit happens to be your current bottleneck.
The two halves compared
Which half applies depends solely on your weapons:
- Dual-wielding: a 35% chance to dodge incoming attacks, a purely defensive effect.
- Two-handed weapon: 15% more Spirit generation, a purely resource-based effect.
If you use neither two weapons nor a two-hander, neither half applies. Switch weapon types while leveling and the effect switches with you. The passive is available from level 24.
How the partners benefit
With a two-hander, the extra Spirit flows into spenders like Cyclone Strike and Sweeping Wind, while Epiphany adds a second Spirit source so the two effects stack up. When dual-wielding, the dodge chance pairs with the Blinding Speed rune of Dashing Strike, which grants further dodge chance after every dash.
On the passive bar, The Guardian's Path often sits next to Beacon of Ytar and Seize the Initiative. While those two cover cooldowns and attack speed, the Path fills in the missing defense or the missing Spirit depending on your weapon. Before picking it, check which of those two bottlenecks shows up more often in your play and choose your weapons accordingly.
