Companion

Companion summons an animal ally that fights alongside you passively and triggers an active bonus on demand. This combines permanent extra damage with a situational effect that differs greatly depending on the companion, ranging from damage to crowd control to resources or support. It's a flexible all-rounder that adapts to your build's needs.

The Wolf Companion is especially common, as its active howl grants you and allies a valuable damage bonus, which is why it's a staple in many damage builds. If you instead play resource-hungry, the Bat Companion delivers instant Hatred plus a continuous Hatred regeneration, stabilizing your resource flow. So you pick the companion to match your goal, whether raw damage, pace, or supply.

Every companion at a glance

Unruned, a raven pecks at enemies for 100% weapon damage, and its active makes the next attack deal an additional 500% damage. The active part has a 30 second cooldown on every version.

  • Spider Companion (level 22): its attacks slow by 60%, and the active web slows by 80% for 5 seconds. That reliably meets the condition of Cull the Weak.
  • Bat Companion (level 29): 50 Hatred on activation, 1 Hatred per second passively.
  • Boar Companion (level 41): taunts enemies and gives you and your party 20% resistance to all elements plus Life regeneration.
  • Ferret Companion (level 46): collects gold, raises movement speed by 10% and, on activation, pulls in every health globe within 60 yards.
  • Wolf Companion (level 59): 15% more damage for 10 seconds for all allies within 60 yards.

Embodiment of the Marauder

This set builds the companion in permanently: with 2 pieces, Companion calls all companions to your side at once, so the rune choice loses weight. The 6-piece bonus, among other things, raises your companions' damage by 9500% for every active Sentry.

Companion next to Vengeance and Ambush

Vengeance and Ambush often sit beside the wolf, whose howl amplifies that damage window. Smoke Screen, Shadow Power and Tactical Advantage provide protection and speed, while Evasive Fire supplies Hatred.
