Pool of the item type from the game files, version 2.8.0. Skill damage bonuses only carry weight for their class. All properties of this slot

Valla was one of the most lethal Demon Hunters ever known, until her abrupt disappearance. Some claim that she still lives, fighting in another land. Her body was never found, but she did leave behind her prized possession: this bow.

Piercing Strafe

This hand crossbow empowers 'Strafe' for the Demon Hunter twice over: the skill deals more damage, and its projectiles now pierce through their targets instead of stopping at the first enemy. This turns a single-target volley into a skill that hits entire rows of enemies in a line.

The pierce effect is the real game-changer, as it makes Strafe enormously efficient against groups and in narrow corridors. The Bequest is therefore a perfect fit for builds that run Strafe as their main damage source. Tip: Position yourself so that as many enemies as possible are lined up one behind another before you fire – a single Strafe can then mow down an entire chain of targets.

Power and property, separately

The two benefits live in different places. Piercing is the legendary power and has no roll range, so every copy delivers it the same way. The 75–100% Strafe damage bonus, on the other hand, is a fixed property of the crossbow and does roll; this is where the quality of your copy is decided, and a Primal Ancient one brings the full 100%. The power only works for the Demon Hunter.

Stats on the hand crossbow

It also comes with a fixed 626–750 Dexterity and (858–1,049)–(1,028–1,304) weapon damage. The hand crossbow fits your main hand as well as your off-hand. Look additionally for a socket, bonus damage against elites, Area Damage, Cooldown Reduction or Maximum Discipline, and let the Mystic replace a weak property.

The Bequest is often combined with Dystopian Goggles, Galvanized Vest, Gas Powered Automail Forearm, Aughild's Power, Hunter's Wrath and Squirt's Necklace.

Valla's disappearance

According to the flavor text, Valla was one of the deadliest Demon Hunters ever known until she abruptly vanished. Some believe she still fights in another land. Her body was never found, but her prized possession was: this very weapon.
