Poison for everyone who gets too close

The Pox Faulds reward melee fighting: as soon as enough enemies stand close around you, a vile stench emanates from you that inflicts poison damage on all nearby foes over several seconds. The pants thus become a passive area damage source that works on its own as long as you stay in the thick of it.

The effect suits melee-oriented playstyles regardless of class, the kind that already fight in the middle of enemy crowds anyway. The extra damage adds up without sacrificing a skill slot for it. Tip: Actively herd enemies together and deliberately stand in their midst instead of operating at the edge — the stench only triggers when enough foes are close enough, so bravely planting yourself in the crowd rewards the full poison damage over the whole duration.

Trigger and reach

The power works with two different radii. The stench triggers when 3 or more enemies are within 12 yards. The damage, however, hits all enemies within 15 yards - including those standing just outside the trigger zone. The stench lasts 5 seconds and deals 450–550% weapon damage as Poison every second during that time. A copy at 492% sits just below the midpoint, and a Primal Ancient delivers the full 550%.

What this means for your play

Against a lone boss with no other enemies nearby, the pants don't trigger, because they need at least 3 enemies nearby. They are a tool against packs, not single targets. Since the damage is based on your weapon damage, it grows with every better weapon. For the main stat, take your class's attribute at 416 to 500 points.

Background

The flavor text is as brief as it is unappetizing: the faulds were made from the treated skin of plague victims - which explains the poisonous stench rather well.
