This massive holy weapon was once owned by an overzealous paladin named Cam. The blade earned its name when Cam was confronted by a strange warrior from the east who claimed that a darkness coiled at the heart of the Zakarum faith, one that threatened to undo its good works. Cam listened politely to the claims, then with a scream of "Blasphemer!" lopped off the shocked stranger's head.

Striking Twice Before the Cooldown

Cam's Rebuttal gives the Crusader breathing room with Falling Sword: within a short window you can use the ability a second time before the cooldown even begins. A single cast becomes a double strike that noticeably concentrates your burst damage in decisive moments.

That is why this two-handed sword fits builds that use Falling Sword as a powerful cooldown ability and want to compress their damage into short windows. Against bosses or dense elite packs especially, the double cast pays off. My tip: save the second cast for the moment enemies are clustered or particularly vulnerable - that way you unload both Falling Swords at maximum effect rather than wasting the second charge.

How the second window works

According to the tooltip, Falling Sword costs 25 Wrath, has a 30 second cooldown and hits all enemies within 14 yards of the impact point for 1700% weapon damage. With this sword, you get 4 seconds after the first use for a second one, and only then does the cooldown start. Since the skill carries you to the impact point, that also means two relocations in a row - one leap in and a second to the next pack, for instance. The power has no roll range.

Which Falling Sword rune fits

  • Rapid Descent reduces the cooldown by 1 second per enemy hit, down to a minimum of 10 seconds.
  • Rise Brothers summons 3 avatars on each landing, fighting for 5 seconds at 280% each.
  • Part the Clouds calls down lightning for 5 seconds at 605%, stunning enemies for 2 seconds.
  • Superheated heats the ground for 6 seconds at 310% Fire damage per second, while Flurry pulls enemies together and incapacitates them for 5 seconds.

Stats and Cam's rebuttal

The sword itself is not class-restricted. It rolls a main stat at 946 to 1125 points - Strength for a Crusader - and elemental weapon damage of 1177 to 1439 minimum and 1410 to 1788 maximum. The flavor text explains the name: the overzealous paladin Cam politely listened to a warrior from the east who warned of a darkness at the heart of the Zakarum faith - then screamed "Blasphemer!" and lopped off his head.
