Prodigy

Prodigy is the wizard's most important resource passive: every time you cast a signature spell like Magic Missile, Shock Pulse, Spectral Blade or Electrocute, you regain Arcane Power. Since these signature spells are themselves free, you generate net resource simply by spamming your cheap generator.

That is exactly what makes the passive the backbone of many builds that want to keep expensive core spells like Meteor, Disintegrate or Energy Twister firing nonstop. The trick is a simple rhythm: you tick off signature spells in between to fill the Arcane Power tank, then dump it into your big spells. Without a signature spell in the build, however, Prodigy does nothing. In resource-hungry setups it is almost always worth a slot and often the decisive piece that keeps an otherwise stalling rotation flowing.

5 Arcane Power per cast

Specifically, every Signature spell grants 5 Arcane Power. The yield depends neither on damage nor on the number of enemies hit, only on how often you cast, so quickly cast Signature spells refill your pool correspondingly faster. Channeled spells like Disintegrate, however, have to be interrupted to weave in Signature spells, so time that switch deliberately.

Signature spells with several jobs

Prodigy isn't the only reward for Signature spells, and that is exactly what makes the passive so valuable in some setups:

• Arcane Dynamo gains a Flash of Insight with every Signature spell and empowers your next other spell after 5 of them. With Prodigy you refill the Arcane Power for exactly that spell at the same time.
• The Energy Twister rune Storm Chaser releases stored Lightning Charges whenever you cast a Signature spell.
• The Delsere's Magnum Opus set makes hits with Magic Missile, Shock Pulse, Spectral Blade and Electrocute cast Slow Time on enemies.

Prodigy from level 20

Prodigy unlocks at level 20. While leveling, when Arcane Power for your first expensive spells is still tight, the effect is felt most clearly.
