"The demons could not stand before the swords of the angelic Host, and their blood ran upon the fields of eternity." —The Books of Jarl, Volume III
Skycutter
The Skycutter speaks clearly to anyone built around Holy skills: it noticeably boosts their damage and occasionally summons angelic aid when you attack, lending extra support in the fight. That makes the sword ideal for Holy-leaning Crusaders, such as Blessed Hammer setups or other Holy-damage builds, though any class wielding such skills benefits from the damage boost.
The angelic aid is pretty but, as a luck-based effect, mostly garnish; the real value is the percentage damage bonus to Holy skills. Tip: make sure your build genuinely deals mostly Holy damage, or the weapon's biggest advantage fizzles. While levelling it's a strong transitional weapon until you find a specialized set blade.
What can be measured - and what cannot
The power states neither a probability nor a damage value for the angelic assistance, and it has no roll range. Everything fixed on the blade, on the other hand, is measurable. Which Skycutter is better is therefore decided entirely by its stats - a Primal Ancient pushes all of them to the maximum but leaves the power unchanged.
The stats at a glance
- Holy damage of 981 to 1199 minimum and 1175 to 1490 maximum is built in.
- Holy skills deal 15 to 20% more damage - the value that matters most on this sword.
- Main stat: Strength, Dexterity or Intelligence at 626 to 750 points. Pick the copy that suits your class, as the sword is not tied to one.
Since the skill bonus only affects Holy skills, take a close look at your skill bar: if your key skills deal a different damage type, nothing remains of this bonus.
The angelic Host
The flavor text comes from The Books of Jarl, Volume III: the demons could not stand before the swords of the angelic Host, and their blood ran upon the fields of eternity. The power to occasionally summon angelic assistance ties straight into that image.
