Pool of the item type from the game files, version 2.8.0. Skill damage bonuses only carry weight for their class. All properties of this slot
Before he fell, Izual was the bearer of the runeblade Azurewrath, an ancient sword blessed by the Song of the Arch as an instrument of the righteous.
Azurewrath
Azurewrath makes undead and demonic enemies near you continuously take Holy damage and occasionally knocks them into the air. You gain a constant, automatic damage aura against exactly the enemy types most common in Diablo 3, plus a welcome dose of crowd control from the knock-up.
The effect is class-agnostic and a solid source of passive bonus damage for any build working through undead- and demon-heavy areas. Because it's a weapon, you can cube the power and carry the damage aura without wielding the sword. Keep in mind the damage only applies to those two enemy types; against other foes it does nothing.
Range and roll
The aura reaches Undead and Demons within 25 yards and hits them every second for between 500 and 650% weapon damage as Holy. Because the damage ticks every second, a high roll adds up considerably over a longer fight, and Primal Ancient copies deliver the full 650%. You do not have to do anything for it beyond staying in range of the right enemies.
A sword built for cold skills
Apart from its holy aura, Azurewrath is a thoroughly cold-themed weapon. It comes with fixed cold weapon damage, 15–20% more damage for Cold skills and a 20–25% chance to Freeze on hit. You get the most out of it when your main skill deals Cold damage anyway. Attack Speed, a socket and your class's main stat are good additional properties. Followers can wield the sword as well.
Izual's blade
The flavor text ties Azurewrath to Izual, who carried the runeblade before he fell. It is an ancient sword, blessed by the Song of the Arch as an instrument of the righteous, which fits its holy power against Undead and Demons.
