“It was said that once a year, the two lovers would arrive at opposite river banks. A bridge of birds would form so they could touch. When they parted, their tears filled the land. Mirinae is one such tear. The sadness and rage in its core will only affect those close to it.” -Scholar Sojin Hwang

Holy Light Burst on Hit

This legendary gem gives your hits a chance to burn a nearby enemy with holy light that deals high damage – while simultaneously restoring a small portion of your maximum life. The stone thus ties offensive extra damage directly to steady self-healing that grows with how often you hit.

Since as a gem it's bound to no class or skill, Mirinae works universally and shows its value especially in builds with many fast hits. Tip: Favor skills that trigger frequently and across many targets so the holy light burst fires often – the extra damage and healing add up into a reliable lifeline that strengthens your survivability as a side effect.

The Numbers Behind the Power

Every hit has a 15% chance to trigger the smite, which works out to roughly one in seven hits on average. The smite deals 3000% weapon damage as Holy and heals you for 3% of your maximum Life each time. It strikes a nearby enemy, not necessarily the target of your attack. Since the damage is based on weapon damage, it grows with a stronger weapon.

When Mirinae Does the Most

Because the chance applies per hit, the number of hits matters more than the force of individual blows. Skills that hit in quick succession or catch many enemies at once create more triggers and therefore more healing. The 3% heal per trigger is measured against your maximum Life, so more Life also means more healing per smite.

A Tear of Two Lovers

The flavor text comes from Scholar Sojin Hwang: once a year two lovers arrived at opposite banks of a river, and a bridge of birds formed so they could touch. When they parted, their tears filled the land. Mirinae is one such tear, and the sadness and rage in its core only affect those close to it.
