A Damage Spike Against Controlled Enemies
Bane of the Trapped increases your damage against any enemy suffering from a crowd-control effect, meaning frozen, stunned or slowed foes. Since many builds already bring slowing or rooting effects of their own, this bonus is surprisingly easy to keep up across the board.
At higher ranks the gem also activates its own slowing aura around you, which means the damage bonus applies to essentially every nearby enemy. That makes it one of the strongest all-around gems in the game, fitting practically every class and any build that fights up close. Tip: Invest in the ranks early to unlock the aura. After that you barely need to worry about the condition anymore and enjoy the full bonus permanently.
