Storm Armor
Storm Armor wraps you in a crackling cloud of energy that strikes nearby enemies with Lightning at regular intervals. It belongs to the armor spells, of which only one can be active at a time, and it lasts for several minutes. That gives you passive bonus damage with no effort beyond switching it on before a fight and occasionally refreshing it.
The Power of the Storm rune is especially popular because it lowers the Arcane Power cost of all your skills while the armor is up, easing your resource economy noticeably. If you care more about extra damage than efficiency, Shocking Aspect delivers a damage boost by letting critical hits trigger hard Lightning strikes on nearby foes. Overall, Storm Armor is a convenient pick for builds that want to fill a buff slot with lasting value.
Every rune and its unlock level
- Reactive Armor (level 23): melee and ranged attackers are shocked for 189% weapon damage.
- Power of the Storm (level 33): all skills cost 3 less Arcane Power while the armor is active.
- Thunder Storm (level 37): the periodic shocks rise from 175% to 315% weapon damage.
- Scramble (level 43): getting hit grants 25% movement speed for 3 seconds, useful for escaping a surround.
- Shocking Aspect (level 58): critical hits have a chance to electrocute an enemy for 425% weapon damage.
While leveling, Reactive Armor and Thunder Storm come first; in the endgame the choice shifts toward efficiency or critical hits.
Halo of Karini as a shield
The ring Halo of Karini turns the armor into a defensive tool: when a shock hits an enemy more than 15 yards away, you take 60–80% less damage for 5 seconds. A roll near 80% is noticeably better. For the condition to trigger, enemies have to be at that distance, and Storm Armor has to stay active the whole time.
What Storm Armor runs alongside
Magic Weapon also costs 25 Arcane Power and lasts 10 minutes, so you switch both on once before a fight. Because Storm Armor deals Lightning, it provides the lightning stack for Elemental Exposure. Since only one armor can be active at a time, it rules out the other armor spells.
