Mantra of Salvation
Mantra of Salvation is the monk's purely defensive mantra. Passively it raises resistance to all damage types for you and your allies across a wide radius, and the active component piles on a little more for a short time. Since all resistance is one of the most powerful defensive stats in the game, this mantra can noticeably raise the survivability of an entire group.
If you want to maximize the defensive effect, Perseverance is the obvious rune, because it boosts the extra all resistance even further and so delivers very high, sustained damage reduction. For an emergency buffer, Divine Protection fits the bill, automatically triggering a strong shield at critically low life and so preventing sudden deaths. In defensively oriented builds or support roles, Salvation is therefore a reliable choice when maximum survivability takes priority.
Passive baseline and active boost
Passively the mantra grants you and all allies within 60 yards 20% more resistance to all elements. Activating it costs 50 Spirit and adds another 20% for 3 seconds. Since the boost is so short, you fire it right before an expected heavy hit instead of casting it nonstop. Keep in mind that only one Mantra can be active at a time, so choosing Salvation means choosing protection over an offensive mantra.
Every rune with its level
- Hard Target (level 24): an extra 20% Armor.
- Divine Protection (level 33): if someone drops below 25% Life, a shield cuts damage taken by 80% for 3 seconds; once every 90 seconds per target.
- Wind through the Reeds (level 40): 10% movement speed.
- Perseverance (level 50): resistance bonus raised to 40%.
- Agility (level 58): 35% Dodge Chance, the dominant rune in practice.
Agility adds a second, independent layer of defense on top of resistance, while Perseverance keeps raising the same stat.
Mantra of Salvation and Harmony
Harmony is the fitting passive if you also build all resistance through your gear. Beacon of Ytar and Seize the Initiative take the offensive passive slots, while Sweeping Wind, Tempest Rush and Epiphany provide damage and Spirit.
