Effect
Long Arm of the Law
Long Arm of the Law is a passive that solely extends the active effect duration of your laws. Since laws deliver their strongest boost when you activate them, yet that window is inherently short, this passive patches a key weakness.
The longer active phase means you enjoy the amplified bonus, be it attack speed, resistance, healing or shield, across a larger slice of the cooldown. In builds that fire a law regularly and lean heavily on its active effect, this smooths uptime considerably and can enable nearly continuous coverage, especially alongside cooldown reduction. So the passive pays off mainly when your setup actively uses at least one law and its peak effect is decisive for your damage or survival. Without active law usage it's worthless.
What 5 seconds mean in practice
The passive adds a flat 5 seconds to the active effect of every Law. Because the bonus is fixed, its relative value depends on the cooldown: the lower you push the wait with cooldown reduction, the larger the share of time the empowered effect is running. Long Arm of the Law unlocks at level 45, so it only arrives later in levelling.
Since the passive only affects the active phase, it pays to press the button deliberately – for example just before you engage a pack or a Rift Guardian appears.
Laws of Hope and the other partners
The passive most often appears together with Laws of Hope. If you trigger its active effect on purpose, Long Arm of the Law lets you enjoy it noticeably longer. The other typical partners are mostly further time-bound tools:
- Akarat's Champion and Iron Skin – cooldown skills whose windows you can line up with the Law,
- Steed Charge for getting between packs,
- Finery and Heavenly Strength as further passives.
When to use the slot differently
If you only run Laws for their passive effect and never press them actively, this passive does nothing for you. The same applies when there is no Law on your bar at all.
