Monkey King's Garb
Monkey King's Garb is a Monk set that makes Sweeping Wind its central pillar. While Sweeping Wind is active, your incoming damage drops noticeably. As the bonuses build, Sweeping Wind periodically spawns decoys that taunt enemies and explode, and ultimately the damage of Lashing Tail Kick, Tempest Rush, and Wave of Light grows with every stack of Sweeping Wind.
The result is a classic channeling Monk who barrels from pack to pack, stays sturdy throughout, and spreads enormous area damage through decoys and spender skills. It plays fast and mobile, rewarding constant upkeep of Sweeping Wind. A practical tip: stack Sweeping Wind as high as you can and keep it flowing without interruption, because both your damage reduction and the damage bonus to your core skills hinge directly on the number of active stacks.
Keeping the vortex alive
Sweeping Wind costs 75 Spirit, lasts 6 seconds and is refreshed by every melee hit. Critical hits can raise it to as many as 3 stacks. The 2-piece bonus halves your damage taken – but only while the vortex is running. A stretch without melee hits therefore costs you protection and damage at the same time.
The decoys from the 4-piece bonus appear every second next to the last enemy you hit, taunt nearby monsters and explode for 1000% weapon damage per stack. They draw attention away from you while adding area damage of their own.
Runes for the vortex and your spenders
On the vortex itself, Inner Storm grants 8 Spirit per second at 3 or more stacks – fuel for your expensive spenders. Blade Storm raises the damage per stack to 145%, and Fire Storm widens the radius to 14 yards.
You decide which spender receives the 1500% per stack: Wave of Light costs 75 Spirit and reaches 1045% weapon damage with Empowered Wave, Lashing Tail Kick costs 50, and Northern Breeze lowers Tempest Rush to 25 Spirit.
Amulet in the set, cube beside it
Instead of boots, the set includes an amulet, Sunwuko's Shines. In Kanai's Cube the Garb is often combined with the Ring of Royal Grandeur, Balance, Incense Torch of the Grand Temple and Goldwrap.
