Bone Spear
Masquerade of the Burning Carnival is one of the strongest solo sets for the Necromancer. The 6-piece bonus drastically amplifies Bone Spear while your Simulacrum carries part of the damage.
How to play: Focus on essence management and critical hit damage, keep Simulacrum active and pierce whole lines with Bone Spear. A top-tier Greater Rift pushing build.
Simulacrums as a shield
The 2-piece bonus makes your Simulacrums invulnerable and grants them every rune at once. If you die, the Simulacrum cooldown is refreshed immediately, so you can call your doubles again right after you get back into the fight.
The 4-piece bonus depends on having a Simulacrum around: while one is with you, damage is reduced by 50%, and whatever damage you still take is split between you and your Simulacrums. Without a Simulacrum, both effects are gone.
Spears from you and your doubles
At six pieces, Bone Spear cast by you and your Simulacrums deals 5500% increased damage, and the Simulacrums even receive triple that bonus. A large share of your damage therefore comes from your doubles' spears.
Bone Spear costs 20 Essence and pierces enemies for 500% weapon damage. Blighted Marrow adds 15% damage for each enemy pierced, which suits monsters lined up in rows. Shatter instead explodes on the first target within 15 yards, while Crystallization reduces the attack speed of enemies hit by 20% and raises yours by 3%, stacking up to 10 times. Blood Spear boosts the damage to 650% but costs 10% of your Life.
Frequent combinations
In Kanai's Cube the Masquerade is often played with Maltorius' Petrified Spike, Reilena's Shadowhook, the Ring of Royal Grandeur and Steuart's Greaves. All six pieces, from the Luxurious Bauta to the Extravagant Shoes, are armor; with the ring in the cube, five of them are enough for the Bone Spear bonus.
