Pool of the item type from the game files, version 2.8.0. Skill damage bonuses only carry weight for their class. All properties of this slot
The Oaxazi tribe sends promising children into the deep jungle to be judged by the great feathered serpent. Those who return are trained in the sacred arts.
Faster-ticking curses
Quetzalcoatl makes Locust Swarm and Haunt deal their damage in half the time. Rather than changing the total, the mask compresses it into a shorter window: both damage-over-time spells run twice as fast. That makes it a cornerstone for Witch Doctor builds constructed around these two curses.
The payoff is clear: with the ticks packed together, your effective damage per second rises sharply as long as you keep the effects up. Tip: Refresh Haunt and Locust Swarm reliably before they expire, and pair the mask with sources that add further multiplicative damage to your curses to make the most of the compressed timeframe.
What Halving Actually Means
Haunt costs 50 Mana and normally deals 4000% weapon damage as Cold over 12 seconds - with the mask, over 6. Locust Swarm costs 300 Mana and deals 1040% weapon damage as Poison over 8 seconds, so 4 seconds with the mask. The damage lands sooner, and when an enemy dies earlier, the Haunt spirit moves on to the next enemy earlier too.
Runes That Share an Element
Since both spells are played together, it pays to look at their elements: Searing Locusts turns the swarm into Fire at 1480% weapon damage, and Consuming Spirit turns Haunt into Fire as well while granting 4291 Life per second. If you prefer Poison, pair the base swarm with Poisoned Spirit, which makes haunted enemies take 20% more damage from your attacks. Pestilence gives the swarm a 100% chance to jump to two additional enemies, and Resentful Spirits summons two spirits per cast.
Stats and Cube Slot
The mask has no fixed affixes; it rolls +626–750 of a main stat, Intelligence for a Witch Doctor. Because the power also fits the armor slot of Kanai's Cube, your head slot stays free - for example for Jade Harvester's Wisdom, which Quetzalcoatl is often combined with, along with the Ring of Emptiness and Lakumba's Ornament. The flavor text explains the name: the Oaxazi tribe sends promising children into the jungle to be judged by the great feathered serpent.
