Hillenbrand was a Templar of surpassing dedication, who used his training sword to practice every day and night. Finally, his physical conditioning grew so vast that he could fight for forty straight hours. When lack of sleep finally drove him mad, it required ten of his brothers to fell him.

Faster follower skills

Hillenbrand's Training Sword is a Templar relic that halves the cooldowns of all your follower's skills. Your Templar fires off his heals, stuns and protective effects noticeably more often, turning him from an occasional helper into reliable background support. Especially in solo runs, where the follower is your only ally, the effect pays off.

My tip: tune your Templar's skill choices deliberately toward his most impactful active abilities, since the strong effects gain the most from a shortened cooldown. Pick his protective or controlling skills, for instance, and you'll now have them on hand far more often. That turns your brother-in-arms into a dependable safety net that has your back more frequently in tricky moments.

Follower only

The relic occupies only the follower's special slot - you cannot equip it yourself. As a Templar relic, it belongs in your Templar's hand. The power is fixed at 50% and does not roll, so two copies differ only in their Strength.

What halving means in practice

A halved cooldown means every follower skill is ready twice as often. The longer a skill's original cooldown, the more this matters - an effect that otherwise comes around rarely becomes a regular helper with the Training Sword. The only fixed property is +626–750 Strength.

Forty hours straight

The flavor text tells of Hillenbrand, a Templar of surpassing dedication who trained with this sword day and night until he could fight for forty straight hours. When lack of sleep finally drove him mad, it took ten of his brothers to bring him down - a grim punchline for a relic that makes your follower more tireless.
