These vicious pads draw their power from the very life force of your enemies.

Death Watch Mantle

These shoulders turn incoming blows into counterattacks: when you're hit, there's a chance to unleash a fan of knives dealing hefty weapon damage all around you. The mantle essentially fights back on its own while you wade through the fray.

Because it rolls one of the three primary stats, it's usable across classes – especially for melee builds that stand in the thick of things and get hit often. Practical tip: wear it in a setup that lets you survive while taking hits, with solid armor or damage reduction. The longer you hold your ground in the crowd, the more often the dagger fan triggers and the more incidental damage you rack up on the side.

Chance, damage and trigger

The chance for the fan of knives rolls between 25 and 35%; a copy at 30% sits right in the middle, while a Primal Ancient brings the full 35%. The fan itself deals 750 to 950% weapon damage, so it scales with whatever weapon you wield. The trigger is what matters: every hit you take is a separate chance. Many weak hits therefore set off the fan just as often as a few heavy ones - against packs that pepper you with fast attacks, it fires correspondingly often.

Stats on the shoulders

The only preset stat is Strength, Dexterity or Intelligence at 416 to 500 points. Since the power is neither class-bound nor tied to a specific skill, any class can use the mantle - pick the copy with your main stat. The Mystic can re-enchant a stat that does not fit.

Where the power comes from

The flavor text calls these pads vicious: they draw their power from the very life force of your enemies. That suits a power that strikes back exactly when enemies hit you.
