Sprint
Sprint is the barbarian's core mobility skill, granting a sharp burst of movement speed for a short time. You use it to close gaps, herd packs together or dodge dangerous effects. In many fast builds Sprint runs essentially all the time and defines the entire pace of play.
The single most important rune is Run Like the Wind: tornadoes whirl behind you and continually damage nearby enemies – so pure mobility turns into a passive carpet of damage, ideal for speed farming. If you need more agility, Marathon extends the duration and raises the speed bonus. In groups Forced March is valuable, since it grants movement speed to all nearby allies as well, pulling the whole team through content faster together.
Every rune at a glance
- Rush (from level 23): 12% more Dodge Chance while sprinting.
- Run Like the Wind (level 29): tornadoes form in your wake, each dealing 60% weapon damage to nearby enemies for 3 seconds.
- Marathon (level 38): the bonus rises from 30% to 40% and lasts 4 instead of 3 seconds; in practice the most frequently chosen rune.
- Gangway (level 46): you slam a path through enemies, knocking them back for 25% weapon damage.
- Forced March (level 53): allies within 50 yards gain 20% movement speed for 3 seconds.
Sprint becomes available at level 16, and the base effect is perfectly adequate until the first runes arrive.
Fury, pace and defense
Each Sprint costs 20 Fury, the same as Battle Rage. Furious Charge generates Fury when used, funding frequent Sprints while also carrying you forward. Wrath of the Berserker raises movement speed among other stats, so both speed effects come together during that window.
If you sprint into fresh packs, you need backup: Ignore Pain briefly reduces damage taken and grants immunity to crowd control, and Nerves of Steel catches a fatal hit.
