Call of the Ancients
Call of the Ancients summons the three Ancients Talic, Korlic, and Madawc, who fight at your side for a few seconds and each bring their own abilities. As a cooldown skill it serves both as an extra damage source and as handy support in combat.
For pure output, The Council Rises is strong, since the Ancients deal notably more damage as Fire. If you instead want to ease your Fury economy, Ancients' Fury grants extra Fury on each of their hits, which clearly props up Fury-hungry builds. So you decide whether the summons mainly hit hard or quietly secure the resources for your own attacks.
Who the three Ancients are
Without the set they fight for 20 seconds on a 120 second cooldown. Each deals 270% weapon damage per swing and has two abilities: Talic wields sword and shield with Whirlwind and Leap, Korlic a polearm with Cleave and Furious Charge, and Madawc two axes with Weapon Throw and Seismic Slam.
Together as One and two other runes
Duty to the Clan (level 37) chills enemies hit and gives them a 10% higher chance to be critically hit. Ancients' Blessing (level 45) heals you and the Ancients for every point of Fury you spend. In practice Together as One (level 58) dominates: 50% of the damage dealt to you is split among the Ancients.
Set and items
The Immortal King's Call set transforms the skill: with 2 pieces the Ancients stay until they die. 4 pieces cut the cooldown of Call of the Ancients and Wrath of the Berserker by 3 seconds for every 10 Fury you spend, and 6 pieces raise your damage by 4000% while both are active. Permanent Ancients make Together as One a constant protective layer, and if they fall, the 4-piece bonus brings them back fast.
The shoulders Fury of the Ancients grant the effect of the rune of the same name and make the Ancients attack 100% faster, freeing you to pick another rune. The weapon Remorseless empowers Hammer of the Ancients while both cooldowns run together.
Paired with Wrath of the Berserker
Wrath of the Berserker is the natural partner. Boon of Bul-Kathos shortens both cooldowns, while Rampage, Ruthless and Battle Rage add damage.
