Guardian's Jeopardy

This class-agnostic set is a pure defensive tool that ties your damage reduction directly to your equipped attributes. Your melee damage reduction grows with the Vitality on your gear, while your ranged damage reduction depends on your class's primary main stat — Strength, Dexterity, or Intelligence. The larger bonus additionally boosts all main and Vitality values considerably, compounding the protective effect even further.

Because the set provides no damage, it lives off the interplay with the rest of your build. It suits setups that already lean on high attribute values, or group situations where a tanky character must survive. In practice you itemize deliberately for lots of Vitality and your main stat to drive both halves of the damage reduction up at once, shaping a very durable character.

Understanding the conversion

The 2-piece bonus works in steps of a thousand: 1% melee damage reduction per 1000 base Vitality from equipped items, and 1% missile damage reduction per 1000 base points of your class attribute from equipped items. Only what your items provide is counted. The 3-piece bonus grants an additional 100% of the base Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence and Vitality from equipped items – exactly the source the first bonus refers to.

The set consists of Guardian's Aversion (bracers), Guardian's Case (belt) and Guardian's Gaze (helm). You need all three for both bonuses.

Jeopardy or Contingency?

Guardian's Contingency uses the same three slots with Guardian's Deflector, Guardian's Foresight and Guardian's Sheath, but provides Vitality and Life regeneration instead of attribute-based damage reduction. The two sets' pieces do not combine – a Contingency helm brings you no closer to Jeopardy's 3-piece bonus. Check the set name in the tooltip when you pick one up.
