Norvald's Fervor

Norvald's Fervor

Norvald's Fervor is a compact two-piece set for the Crusader, tailored entirely to the Steed Charge skill. Its only bonus extends the duration of your charge, reduces its cooldown with every enemy killed and significantly increases your damage while Steed Charge is active as well as for a few seconds afterward. This creates an almost continuous damage boost as long as you keep trampling enemies.

This makes the set an excellent amplifier for mobile Crusader builds that are constantly on the move and combine damage and positioning via Steed Charge. Since it only occupies two slots, it can be elegantly combined with a large class set that provides the base damage. Practical tip: Don't just use Steed Charge to get around; ride deliberately through dense enemy groups, because every kill shortens the cooldown and keeps the lucrative damage bonus up almost seamlessly.

Steed Charge with and without the set

Without the set, Steed Charge carries you unhindered through enemies for 2 seconds on a 16-second cooldown. The bonus extends the ride by 2 seconds – so 2 becomes 4, or 5 with the Endurance rune (3 seconds). Every enemy you kill takes 1 second off the cooldown. During the ride and for 5 seconds after, you deal 200% increased damage.

Runes that suit the ride

Since the damage bonus already applies during the ride, runes that deal damage themselves pay off. Nightmare leaves a trail of flames dealing 550% weapon damage per second, Draw and Quarter chains 5 enemies and drags them behind you, and Spiked Barding relies on 500% of your Thorns damage per second. Rejuvenation regenerates 15% of your maximum Life while riding.

Flail and shield

The set consists of the two-handed flail Flail of the Charge and the crusader shield Shield of the Steed. Convert a duplicate piece into the other one in Kanai's Cube.
