Istvan's Paired Blades

Istvan's Paired Blades

Istvan's Paired Blades is a compact dual-wield set for the Barbarian that rewards pure momentum. Its only bonus kicks in every time you spend your primary resource: attack speed, damage dealt and armor increase for a few seconds, and the effect can stack multiple times. At full stacks, you are faster, hit harder and take punishment better, all at once.

This makes the set an excellent damage and survival amplifier for builds that already burn through a lot of Fury, such as fast-paced Whirlwind or attack-chain variants. Since it only occupies two slots, it can be elegantly combined with a large class set. Practical tip: Make sure your resource spending never pauses so the stacks never expire, because the build thrives on holding the maximum permanently rather than ramping up only once the fight has started.

A closer look at the stacks

Every time you spend your primary resource, attack speed, damage dealt and armor each rise by 6% for 5 seconds, stacking up to 5 times. All three values grow together – no stack gives only damage or only protection. Since a stack lasts just 5 seconds, the gap between your spends decides whether you hold the maximum.

The bonus has a small self-reinforcing loop built in: at full stacks you attack faster and therefore get to spend resource more often. Cheap skills you use in quick succession keep the stacks up more easily than rare, expensive attacks.

Two swords

The set consists of the swords Little Rogue and The Slanderer, wielded together in both hands. If you are missing one but own a duplicate of the other, convert the spare in Kanai's Cube – in a two-piece set, that produces the missing sword.
