Command Skeletons in the Land of the Dead
The Bloodsong Mail fuses two Necromancer skills into a devastating combination: if you use Command Skeletons inside your Land of the Dead, the command deals significantly more damage and gains several rune effects at once. This way you combine Enforcer, Frenzy, Dark Mending and Freezing Grasp in a single attack and squeeze far more out of your skeletons than they could otherwise manage.
The chest piece is the foundation of skeletal-warrior builds that build their burst damage around Land of the Dead. Tip: Save the command to your skeletons for the windows when Land of the Dead is active, since only there does it unleash its full strength. Concentrate the combined force on elites or Rift Guardians to wring maximum damage out of that brief window.
Four runes in the Land - you pick the fifth
In the Land of the Dead, the chest grants Command Skeletons four of its five runes. The one left over is Kill Command, which makes the skeletons charge an enemy and explode for 215% weapon damage as Poison within 15 yards. Outside the Land of the Dead, only your own rune applies. Pick one of the four granted runes and you keep it between windows too - say Enforcer, which cuts the active cost from 50 to 25 Essence.
The window and the roll range
The damage bonus rolls between 100 and 125%; a copy at 110% sits in the lower range, while a Primal Ancient brings the full 125%. It only applies while Land of the Dead is active: 10 seconds on a 120 second cooldown. The Land's runes change that window:
- Shallow Graves extends it by 1 second per 10 enemies killed, up to 2 seconds.
- Invigoration makes your skills free during that time.
- Plaguelands deals 100% weapon damage as Poison per second to enemies in the area.
- Frozen Lands freezes enemies periodically, and Land of Plenty heals you for 2% per kill.
Three sockets in the mail
The chest has 3 sockets built in, plus Strength, Dexterity or Intelligence at 416 to 500 points - for a Necromancer, Intelligence counts. The flavor text likens the rustling scales to a spray of blood hitting the ground.
