Heaven's Fury

Heaven's Fury calls down a sustained beam of holy energy that bathes caught enemies in Holy damage over several seconds. On activation you usually anchor the beam to a point or to yourself and pour enormous continuous damage onto everything beneath it. That makes it one of the Crusader's strongest spenders.

For steady, mobile damage Fires of Heaven is a strong rune: it removes the cooldown and channels the reflected beam through you, so you can fire essentially nonstop in exchange for Wrath. If you instead need pinpoint maximum single-target damage, pick Ascendancy, which widens the beam and raises its damage considerably. The call depends on whether your build leans on a constant resource flow for sustained fire or on periodic spikes on a cooldown; the two play very differently.

Runes by unlock level

  • Blessed Ground (from level 31): the ground touched deals 1550% weapon damage over 5 seconds to enemies walking through it.
  • Ascendancy (level 36): a 12-yard ray dealing 2766% instead of 1710% weapon damage.
  • Split Fury (level 44): three smaller beams at 1980% weapon damage each.
  • Thou Shalt Not Pass (level 52): enemies cannot cross the touched ground for 6 seconds.
  • Fires of Heaven (level 62): no cooldown, but 40 Wrath per cast. It unlocks late, yet it is the most common choice in practice.

Items for the ray

Eberli Charo cuts the cooldown by 45–50%. Fate of the Fell adds two rays and raises damage by 375–500%. Shield of Fury makes each hit increase further Heaven's Fury damage on the same enemy by 25–30%, stacking up to ten times. Since the flail is a two-handed weapon and the shield is a crusader shield, Heavenly Strength lets you wear both together.

Bracer of Fury raises damage against Blinded, Immobilized or Stunned enemies by 300–400%. Shield Glare blinds enemies in front of you and meets exactly that condition.

Aegis of Valor

In this set, Fist of the Heavens fuels the ray: each attack with it raises Heaven's Fury damage by 125% for 5 seconds, stacking three times. Four pieces return 5 Wrath per hit, and six pieces boost both skills by 15,000%.
