Effect

Your Armor is increased by a percent equal to your shield's Block Chance.

Divine Fortress

Divine Fortress is a defensive passive that raises your armor by a percentage equal to your shield's block chance. It thereby links two defensive stats: the higher your block chance, the stronger your armor bonus too – a synergy passive that rewards shield-based crusaders.

The slot pays off especially in defensive and push builds that already rely on a high-quality shield with lots of block chance. There the passive delivers considerable, essentially free armor. If you play without a shield or with low block chance, the effect is small and other defensive passives are the better choice. As a building block of a shield-oriented tank setup, Divine Fortress is an efficient way to raise durability without extra gear compromises.

The math behind the bonus

Divine Fortress raises your Armor by a percentage equal to your shield's Block Chance. A shield with 30% Block Chance therefore raises your armor by 30%. Every extra point of Block Chance on the shield works twice: as a chance to block and as an armor bonus. The passive unlocks at level 30.

What to look for on your shield

Because the bonus comes straight from the shield, check its Block Chance before picking Divine Fortress. The Mystic can reroll one property per item, and if the shield carries a weak value that can be swapped for more Block Chance, that improves block and armor at the same time. When you switch shields, the armor bonus adjusts automatically.

Shield and two-handed weapon

The passive Heavenly Strength lets the Crusader wield a two-handed weapon together with a shield, at the cost of some damage dealt. For Divine Fortress that means the shield, and with it the armor bonus, stays in place even with a two-hander. Without a shield, for example with a two-hander and no Heavenly Strength, the passive has nothing to work with.
